Donations collected at the premier screening of Wimal Alahkoon's film Maw Senehasa in London recently was handed over to the President of Sri Lanka Military and Police Veterans Association (SLMPVA) for the welfare of the war heroes.

President of SLMPVA retired Lieutenant Colonel Ajith Siyambalapitiya received the money from the film's leading actress Rebecca Nirmalee. Script writer Rodney Vidanapathirana too attended the ceremony.

Below is the letter sent by President of SLMPVA thanking Mr. & Mrs. Alahakoon.

Dear Mr & Mrs Alahakoon

This is to thank you for the contribution made to Sri Lanka Military Police Veterans' Association & I regret my delay in sending this note as I am still overseas on an official basis. On behalf of all members of SLMPVA, I greatly appreciate your genuine effort & commitment to raise funds to our "esprit de corps Trust" which is meant for the welfare of military retirees & their families. We really understand how tough was your effort. Specially being away from the motherland. Further, it was very nice of your family to come forward & supporting us, on the request of Mr Upali Perera, in an era most people tend to forget the soldiers who brought peace to our nation. Please convey, if it is practical, our heart full gratitude to all the donors for supporting our organization in the time of need.

Congratulations for launching your film "Mav Senehasa" successfully in Europe & hope it will release soon in Sri Lanka as well. Mr Rodny & Actress Rebeca visited our HQ for the ceremony & their presence showed the interest & trust on us. Thank you for organizing them to attend.

Captain H U A Jayatissa, the Treasurer, will formally communicate on the contribution soon & will assure you that these funds will be utilized for a worthy cause as we briefed before. Look forward to have your support to SLMPVA in the future too. Whilst thanking again, we wish you, your family & all Donors the very best in their all endeavours in future.

All the best

Warm regards,
Yours Sincerely,
Ajith Siyambalapitiya
LT Colonel ( Rtd)
