 Sunil de Silva felicitation - A delightful evening, a fitting tribute to a man of many talents

A capacity crowd of friends, relatives and well-wishers gathered at the Don Moore hall in Carlingford on Sunday the 27th to felicitate Sunil de Silva PC who completed 50 Years of continuous legal practice as a Barrister at Law. The evening was as Sunil would have liked it, full of laughter and good cheer and an occasion for friends to meet and greet. It was a fitting tribute to a man of considerable talent, a man always pleasant and affable, and a man of geniality.

Intensity of monsoon rain for three months made life severe for everybody especially the Bhikkhus who walked around spreading Dhamma and begging for food, Pindapatha. Leaders of other religious cults started criticising the Bhikkhus saying disciples of Gauthama (Buddha) disturbs the new life emerging from earth during rainy season by moving around.

On Sunday 20th Oct. at 5:00 pm close to 250 Sinhala Music lovers congregated at the Castle Grand Rebellion Hall to experience a truly remarkable event. This was the launch of the 2nd Sinhala CD by the Writers’ Guild of Sydney which is an ancillary organisation of the Sinhala Cultural Forum.

The Epping Club, was the venue of the Wesley College, Colombo, OBA (NSW) 15th anniversary commemorative Ball held on Saturday 28th September 2013.  The response from past pupils of Wesley this year was tremendous and this was mostly due to the presence  as chief guests, the present Principal of the School Dr Shanti Maclelland (a former Wesleyite) and his wife Sriyani, and of Mr. Haig Karunaratne a much respected and liked teacher.
