Premier of Ira Sevaya [Sun Rise] screened in Kathmandu Rodney Vidanapathirana’s latest film Featured

Popular film and tele-drama director, Rodney Vidanapathirana’s latest film "Ira Sevaya – Sun Rise" was screened as its premier show in Kathmandu, Nepal last week.

This screening was organised by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu under the guidance of Ambassador W. M. Senevirathna. This film was screened at the Russian Centre of Culture and Science in Kathmandu.

Director Vidanapathirana attended this special screening. The chief guest was Dr. Narayan Khadka, Minister of Urban Development of Nepal.

Among the guests were Duminda Dissanayake, Minister of Education Services, Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Minister of Youth & Sports / Southern Province, , Dr. Keshab Man Shakya, former Minister of Science & Technology of Nepal, Most Ven. Dr. Gnapurnika Maha Thero, Deputy  Sanganayake  and other  Ven. Maha Sangha of Nepal, Dr. Sergey Vasilievich Velichkin, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Members of the Diplomatic Corps,   Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Chairman of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Members of the  Nepal Sri Lanka Friendship Association  and Nepal Sri Lanka Chambers of  Commerce, Members from Nepal Film Development Company and Ms. Garima Panta, winner of the Best Actress Award in the SAARC Film Festival, 2014 in Colombo.

Prior to the screening of the film, two minutes silence was observed in memory of the late Rebecca Nirmalee, the main actress of "Ira Sevaya - Sun Rise".

Vidanapathirana said that soon this film will be released in Sri Lanka shortly.

"This was the last film that the late Rebecca Nirmalee acted the lead role. It was shot both in Sri Lanka and England", he told Sri Express.

He said the opportunity gave him the privilege of meeting with the Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushil Koilrala.

The cast comprises  :  Wimal Alahakoon, Rebecca Nirmalee, Moreen Charuni, Stanley Krishnarathna, Gamini Samarakoon, Ishara Wickramasinghe, Tissa Bandaranayake, Ranjith Ranasinghe and Malani Kathirasinghe.

Camera  is by Ranga Kariyawasam, Chaminda Dissanayake, Kapila  Thilakarathne (London).

The film was edited by Viranga Ketapearachchi and Madhura Prasad. With music by  Visharada Manoj Peiris, it was produced by  Kanthi Alahakoon.
