Laying of Foundations for Meditation Huts at the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre Only in a Supreme Buddha's dispensation would there be an opportunity to offer shelter for the Noble Sangha.
On Saturday the 06th of October, around 200 devotees gathered at the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre in Basildon had the opportunity to participate in such a rare, meritorious deed. Under the guidance of the resident Bhikkus, foundation stones were laid for the construction of 5 meditation huts at the monastery grounds for the Noble Sangha.
The Dhamma programme commenced early morning with devotees observing the eight precepts. Afterwards, Buddha Pooja was offered to Lord Buddha followed by venerating the Blessed One, Noble Dhamma and Sangha and also chanting of Pirith discourses. The resident Bhikkus then laid the first foundations amid the chanting of the Jewels discourse (Rathana Sutta), followed by devotees old and young, placing the foundations. This deed is truly an exceptional act, signified by words spoken by Lord Buddha, "One, who offers shelter, is the one who is a giver of everything ..."
The Dhamma programme continued through the day with devotees learning Dhamma discourses and practicing meditation. A children's Dhamma programme was also held later that day.
May everyone share the merits gained by these great deeds with happy and delightful thoughts! May everyone be happy! May everyone attain the bliss of Nibbana in this Gauthma Buddha's Dispensation!
