Sri Lanka comedian Wilson Guneratne's performance - New South Wales
Published: 13 Apr 2013
“Laughter is the Best Medicine” delivered as promised, a sensational evening filled with laughter. The renowned political atirist and comedian Wilson Gunaratne mesmerized the audience with humor and entertainment.
His portrayal of a former President of Sri Lanka, the Italian, Luciano Maranzi, Kodituwakku and himself in four acts carried witty humor and satire which were accepted by the audience with absolute glee.
The supporting actors, Thusari Kulatilake, Sampath Jayaweera and Tilak Ranasinghe did a fantastic job with only a few days of rehearsals with Wilson. They showed their ability to perform with top artists. Champa Buddhipala, a producer and director of stage drama humbly took up the job of the makeup artist. The job was difficult and lengthy. But he stuck to his guns and did a magnificent job.
The Ernest McIntyre production of “Cricket Nadagama” with Ghandhi McIntyre and Daya Gonsalkorale showed how sports like cricket can unite a divided nation.
The audience was also treated to the beautiful singing of Cecil Fonseka, Prasadika Wickramarachchi and Bony Fernando. Hiran Kulatilake/Kitsiri Karunaratne presentation of the new song by the renowned singer Lakshman Wijesekera must also be mentioned as it took us a journey through a common fantasy in our young University lives.
Peradeniya University Alumni Association thanks all of our friends who supported the event in many ways.
