New Year new Route - BA Coming to BIA
British Airways launches its much-anticipated flights to Colombo in Sri Lanka on Sunday 14 April, amid the country’s New Year celebrations.
Dancers from the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre helped British Airways celebrate in style onboard a Boeing 777 aircraft, which will operate the route with three cabins, including fully flat beds in Club World.
And if any more reason were needed to ditch the gloomy UK weather, British Airways is offering flights from just £499 return in World Traveller, when booked by April 22.
Peter Simpson, director of Gatwick, said: “This is an extremely exciting new route for us. The UK has the second largest number of tourists visiting the island after India so it’s a fantastic opportunity for them to fly there with British Airways from Gatwick.
“Sri Lanka has so much to offer visitors from beach, spa or adventure holidays, to cultural, wildlife and nature breaks.”
Flights operate three-times-a-week between London Gatwick and Colombo, via Male in the Maldives.
British Airways offers seven nights at the 3* Tangerine Beach Hotel in Sri Lanka from £659 per person, based on two people sharing, for travel in May and June. The price includes return British Airways flights from Gatwick and half-board accommodation. Book by April 22. Visit ba.com/srilanka or call 0844 4930758.
