Mass Ordination Ceremony at Mahamevnawa

36 young devout lay followers joined the order of the Sangha in a mass ordination ceremony held at the Mahamevnawa Asapuwa in Kundasaala.
All the novice monks will remain in the monasteries to learn the teaching of the Buddha.

Most Ven. Dodampahala Sri Chandrasiri Nayaka Thera conducted the ceremony at the invitation of Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnaanaananda thera, head of the Mahamevnawa.
On the same day a new building with facilities to offer Dana for more than 100 priests and nuns was also opened and made available for all the members of the Mahasangha who ever visit the premisses.

The day long religious programme ended with a Maha Sa Wandanaa, paying homage to the Maha Sthupa and a Bodhi Wandanaa, paying homage to the Maha Bodhi.
A large number of devotees including the parents and relatives of all the novice monks attended the programme.

Ven. Gnaanaananda Thera in his Anusaasana paid tribute to all the young people who joined the supreme priest hood and their families who offered their beloved children to the service of the upliftment of  the Buddha Sasana, and wished that all the merits gained from the meritorious deeds of the day be pass on to every one who hear about this noble act.
