HOUNSLOW SRI LANKA JANAHANDA FOUNDATION INTERVIEWS UK'S LABOUR PARTY LEADER AND MP SEEMA MALHOTRA TO DISCUSS THE WAY FORWARD FOR BRITISH SRI LANKANS
Political atmosphere in the UK is hotting up in the run up to the general election on 7th May 2015.
In recognition and appreciation of the tremendous contribution our Sri Lankan community makes in Britain, the Labour Party accorded Hounslow Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation with an opportunity to interview it's leader Right Honourable Mr. Ed Miliband and Ms.Seema Malhotra, the Honourable Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston and the Shadow Minister for tackling violence against women and girls despite their very busy election campaign. Mr Miliband was interviewed by Mr. Shiran Almeida, the Vice President of Janahanda Foundation and Ms . Malhotra by Miss Surya samaraweera, a patron of the foundation. During the interviews both Mr. Miliband and Ms Malhotra reiterated Labour Party's support to the Sri Lankan Government in it's endeavours to bring about a peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka where all communities can live together as a one nation. On behalf of the young generation, Miss. Larisha Dias pointed out to Ms. Malhotra the importance of lowering the age of first time voters from 18years to 17years.
Mr. Sri Lal Dias the president of the Hounslow Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation stated he is thankful to the Labour Party for pledging support to the Sri Lankan government in it's rebuilding process and that Janahanda Foundation will continue to play an important role in matters concerning Sri Lanka.
