Sri Lanka “The Sapphire Capital of the World” Sparkles at the International Jewellery London Show
The National Gem & Jewllery Authority and the Srilanka High Commission Jointly collaborated for the first time to host the magnificent Srilanka Gemstones Pavilion at the Glittering International Jewellery London show organised by the Reed Exhibition Ltd. held on 31st of August 1st and 2nd of September at the Olympia Exhibition and Convention Centre in London.
The portfolio of exhibits demonstrated at the fair did also include Package & Point of sale materials and given an equal prominence to the Networking Events which helped Exhibitors and Buyers to expand their Business networks. The event further showcased Packaging and display materials along with other related products and services were also displayed, making it a highly professional sourcing platform for the Gem and Jewellery industry.
Five members of the Trade, including Gamini Ariyathilaka of Gamini Gems & Jewellery, Ajith Borelessa of Nemlanka Gems and Riza Ahmed of McMillion Jewellers, represented the “Sri Lankan Gemstones Pavilion” which displayed a magnificent array of Gemstones from Sri Lanka.
The lustrous gemstones displayed at the Sri Lanka Gemstones Pavilion allured visitors and buyers from m Hong Kong, USA, China, Germany etc and other leading consuming countries. The members of the “National Pavilion” were successful in securing orders and Business transactions for fine quality gems establishing its position as the leading producer of fine quality Blue Sapphires to the global market.
The strategic thinking behind the organizing of Sri Lanka Gemstones Pavilion at International Fairs is with the view to establish Srilankan Gemstones as a Premier Brand Name similar to the Branding of “Ceylon Tea” in the International market. Furthermore, the successful triumph of being appointed as the Host Nation of The International Coloured Gemstones Association Congress 2015, accomplished by the National Gem & Jewellery Authority with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association is certainly a National conquest of unprecedented importance.
Mr. N.K.G.K. Nemmawatta, Director General Actg. NGJA, Mrs. Sonali Wijeratne, Minister Commercial and Ms. Seevali Wijewardena, Second Secretary Sri Lanka High Commission in London and members actively engaged in the industry were in attendance at the Sri Lanka Gemstones Pavilion.
All participating traders expressed their gratitude and thanks to the NGJA & Sri Lanka High Commission in London for the efforts taken in organising the Sri Lanka Pavilion which for the first time projected an iconic signpost image.
